Project Online Retirement - September 2026
Microsoft has confirmed that Project Online will reach end of service in September 2026. After that date, Project Online will no longer be available or supported.

Microsoft Project Server Subscription Edition (SE)
Project Server SE is Microsoft’s original on-premises PPM solution. It provides all the familiar capabilities of Project Server with continuous updates and modern performance improvements.
However, this solution is based on older architecture and requires a significant investment in architecture and licensing that can be very costly. It also has a limited life, and like Project Online, Microsoft could retire this solution with just 12 months notice. Therefore, selecting this solution as an alternative to Project Online should be seen as a short term option that carries some risk as well as a significant amount of IT administration and support. This is essentially the option for companies with deep pockets and those who are content to remain with an outdated user interface and limited operational capability (compared to other modern SaaS PPM solutions).
